Campus & Location
Wyoming Seminary, affectionately known as “Sem,” is an independent day and boarding school located in Kingston, Pennsylvania, a historic town set in the northeast corner of the state. Close proximity to cities such as New York City, Philadelphia, and Washington D.C. (all under 4 hours!) allows our students to extend their learning beyond the classroom. With access to numerous lakes and mountains in the nearby Poconos, as well as concert halls, theaters, and art galleries, Summer at Sem is the perfect recreational hub for any artist, student, or camper who is looking to embrace the full potential of their summer.
Students who come to Summer at Sem enjoy a college-like feel on our open campus. Sprague Avenue is a gated/pedestrian-only road that runs through the middle of campus. The dining hall, library, main academic building, and all three campus dormitories are all accessed from Sprague Ave making it the heart of campus. Also on Sprague is the Nelson Bell Tower, one of the most popular meeting places on campus; our Summer at Sem office is located in the Buckingham Performing Arts Center (BPAC) just next door to the Bell Tower. Campus is also home to two art studios, two gyms, two athletic fields, tennis courts, and an indoor pool.
Our campus is also home to the Kirby Center for Creative Arts (KCCA), a state-of-the-art performing arts facility completed in 2014. The KCCA boasts a 600-seat theater, professional dance studio, choir room, classrooms, and numerous practice spaces. In addition to our Summer at Sem Creative Arts artists, the KCCA has hosted names like Leslie Odom Jr., Rufus Wainwright, and the Limón Dance Company.
Boarding students enjoy living in one of three dorms: Swetland, Carpenter, and Darte Halls. Swetland, our all-female dorm, and Darte Hall, one of our two all-male dorms, have direct access to the dining hall while Carpenter Hall, our main all-male dorm, is just across Sprague Ave. Residential Advisors live alongside boarders during the summer, along with our dorm parents, who ensure our boarders are well cared for during their stay on campus.
